Introduction

Sterling Arrow, on behalf of our client, is seeking an ambitious and experienced Technical Director to lead a dynamic architectural team. The successful candidate will oversee technical project delivery, support business development, and manage both established and emerging teams across multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
  • Chartered membership with CIAT, RIBA, or equivalent preferred.
  • Extensive experience in delivering complex construction projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD/BIM software and a strong understanding of current building regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Role Within Practice

    • Project Delivery: Oversee the technical team's delivery of working drawing projects, ensuring high-quality outputs.
    • Client & Consultant Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and external consultants.
    • Business Development: Assist in preparing fee proposals and generating business through existing contacts while meeting key performance indicators.
    • Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff and help establish a technical team in the Guildford office.
    • Quality Control: Ensure all technical drawings and information meet the highest quality standards.
    • Site Engagement: Conduct site visits, appraisals, and technical reviews.
    • Recruitment Support: Assist in recruiting a Technical Director for the Guildford office.

    Responsibilities

  • Ensure all project outputs meet the highest standards and comply with regulations.
  • Conduct regular site visits, technical reviews, and appraisals.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
  • Assist with recruiting future technical leadership for the Guildford office.

    • Competitive salary package commensurate with experience (£60,000 - £80,000).
    • Hybrid working model: 4 days in the office, 1 day from home (post-probation).
